REMINDER: Join Us for the 2023 Thanksgiving Justice & Compassion Celebration!

Abraham House is abuzz with excitement as we prepare for our special Thanksgiving celebration set for November 4, 2023! Located at 340 Willis Avenue in the Bronx, this day of gratitude and festivities promises to be more than just a day of gratitude; it's an opportunity to come together  in the spirit of community to give thanks for all of our blessings and to look forward to those yet to come. We are especially excited to welcome friends and families to break bread with us as we continue our journey to transform lives both behind and beyond the prison walls.

The day will commence at 9 AM, where attendees can participate in our food pantry distribution, offering sustenance and warmth to those in need. At 11 AM, we will come together as a community to celebrate Mass together. And of course, one of the major highlights of the day will be the presentation of the "Abraham House's Justice & Compassion Award" to Sister Simone Ponnet, co-founder of Abraham House. This award is not just a token but a heartfelt acknowledgment of her groundbreaking role in establishing Abraham House and her tireless service over her vocational life to walk alongside our returning brothers and sisters and their families. Her commitment to transforming lives, both behind and beyond prison walls, has left an indelible mark on our community.

In a tribute to her profound impact, we will announce the renaming of the award to the "Sister Simone Ponnet Justice & Compassion Award". It’s a momentous occasion, and we are honored to have Althea Brooks, the former Executive Director of Abraham House, as our inaugural recipient under this newly christened title in recognition of her years of dedication to Abraham House and the many residents that have passed through its hallowed halls.

And what's Thanksgiving without a feast? At 12 PM, our guests will be treated to a sumptuous spread, embodying the essence of the holiday and celebrating our shared bonds. We warmly invite you to be a part of this special day as we forge community.
