Launch of the New Ignacio House in Manhattan

As we rounded out 2022, Thrive For Life was blessed to open the doors at our brand new Ignacio House in Manhattan! For the last several months, we have been diligently preparing and eagerly awaiting the big move to our new space generously provided to us by His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan. Nestled in a vibrant neighborhood in East Harlem, our new space will now be a home for up to 15 resident scholars continuing the good work of college education that they began while incarcerated. A former convent and residence to a community of religious brothers, the new Ignacio House offers a large and homey environment for our community to grow as we continue our journey of local and national expansion.

Just in time for Christmas, we were glad to welcome members of the extended Thrive For Life family to celebrate the launch of our new location. A full house of resident scholars, staff, volunteers, and mentors joined together for Mass and a community meal to give thanks for the blessings of the last year and look forward to the many sure graces to come in 2023. The transition to Manhattan was made possible through the hard work of many people, including Sr. Katie, Chris P., and Fr. Helmut who took the lead on preparing the rooms for our resident scholars. Many thanks are owed as well to the students at Xavier High School who generously offered their time and hands to assist with the big move at the beginning of December.

As we settle into our new location, we set our gaze now to the many other exciting expansion initiatives across the United States and right here in New York as we prepare for the launch of our first house of studies for women returning home from prison. We rejoice for the generosity of our many supporters and invite you to continue to walk with us as we work to transform lives behind and beyond the prison walls!
